Welcome from the Principal

Steve Gromala

Dear Parents, Students and Faith Community,

Welcome to Holy Family Catholic School, where we have a strong tradition of inspiring faith, family values and ensuring high levels of student learning since 1954 (now 65 continuous years). We are a proud member of the GRACE School System, which includes nine Catholic schools in the Green Bay area. At Holy Family, we strive to provide a superior education in an engaging and faith-based environment that encourages the spiritual, academic, social, emotional and physical development of every child.

We are extremely proud to an IB (International Baccalaureate) World School. In fact, we are ONE of only SEVEN IB World Schools in the state of Wisconsin for the Middle Years Programme (yes, that’s spelled correctly). MYP is a challenging framework that encourages our 6th-8th grade students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. It is extremely inclusive by design and students of all interests and academic abilities will benefit from participation. To learn more about MYP, I encourage you to CLICK HERE.

At Holy Family Catholic School, we are FAMILY. Our faculty is outstanding and view teaching as it should be – as a true vocation. Our dedicated staff works diligently to meet the individual needs of all students while maintaining personal connections with their families. We believe that Holy Family Catholic School shares a responsibility for the total development of our students with the home, Church, and the Greater Green Bay Community.

I am extremely delighted to serve as the Principal of Holy Family Catholic School and be a part of the GRACE School System. I have nearly 20 years in education, with most of those years being spent as a school administrator in various parts of the state. My upbringing was in Catholic education, having attended the former Menominee Catholic Central School (now St. John Paul II Academy) in Menominee, Michigan and the former Marinette Catholic Central High School (now St. Thomas Aquinas High School) in Marinette, Wisconsin. As a youth, I dreamed that someday I would return to Catholic education as an adult and continue my service to students and Jesus Christ. That dream has now come true and I couldn’t be happier.

I encourage you to get to know Holy Family Catholic School and get to know me as well. I am more than excited to make connections with the students, parents and greater faith community. I am driven to ensure that EVERY student attending our school learns at the highest level. My mantra as an educator is ‘ALL MEANS ALL’. I look forward to working side-by-side with you to make this a reality. Make it a GREAT Day…The Holy Family Way!

Your Partner in a Christ-Centered Education,

Steve Gromala

I was born and raised in Menominee, Michigan and attended Catholic schools from Kindergarten through high school graduation.  I am a proud 1994 graduate of Marinette Catholic Central High School (now St. Thomas Aquinas High School).  My first teaching position was in the small Central Wisconsin town of Wautoma, where I taught seventh grade social studies.  While in Wautoma, I also had the honor of serving as summer school director and high school associate principal, and more importantly, that is where I met my wife.  I have also served as a principal in Ashland, Wisconsin, Manawa, Wisconsin, Wrightstown, Wisconsin and Hortonville, Wisconsin.  Each of these positions helped shape me as an educational leader and has prepared me for this position at Holy Family Catholic School.

In college I worked for four years at WBAY-TV 2 in Green Bay and even worked with Mike Holmgren during the Mike Holmgren Show era.  I am a proud Eagle Scout, having earned the award in 1992, and have been active in Scouting ever since.  I currently serve as Assistant Cubmaster for Pack 3036 of Hortonville, but have also served as the chairperson for the Bay-Lakes Council’s annual Bay Jammer event, held every July in Menominee.

I have two wonderful children.  Ian is in the sixth grade and Ethan is in the fourth grade.
