¡Hola! Me llamo Sra. Wagner. Soy maestra de español para los grados Preschool - 8th. I am a lifelong Catholic, having grow up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I went to Western Illinois University and earned a double major in Communications and Spanish. I spent a summer abroad in Guadalajara, México and have loved Spanish since high school. I've been married to Bob for 15 years. We have 3 daughters (ages 14, 11, 7) and 2 dogs. We lived in Shelby, North Carolina for almost 8 years. Then in 2017 we moved to Sunrise, Florida. 6 months later, due to a job opportunity, we moved up to Green Bay. We're thrilled to be back in the Midwest and raise our girls here. My goal as your Spanish teacher is to first get your student interested in learning Spanish. For me, it was all about the culture: the music, colors, decorations, traditions and celebrations. The way I teach is through story telling, songs, hands on activities, and games. Students can become better by having patience with the process of language acquisition. Challenge yourself by listening to Spanish at home (YouTube, television shows, music) and think about your everyday world using Spanish. At the middle school level, my goal is to help prepare your student to enter high school ready for Spanish 2. This will require some effort: regular homework completion, class participation, good study habits, and consistency. ‘‘Communicating in a variety of modes, in more than one language, fosters international mindedness by enabling students to ‘reflect on their own perspective, culture and identities as well as those of others” (International Baccalaureate Organization, 2019).
